This video expresses something many caregivers I’ve heard from experience—and it is very close to my own story as well.
Rosemary Lichtman of Comforting Home Care in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania found three ways of coping with providing care for her elderly parents while she worked full time and was raising her own children:
- Lower your expectations
- Get help
- Take care of yourself
The advice to “take care of yourself first” often strikes a nerve with overwhelmed caregivers. As Rosemary explains, this can mean something as simple as a short jog in the morning.
